Narrative Summary for the Academic and Financial Plan
School Year 2006-2007
Academic Goals:
- Reading
Proficiency 78% school wide for all subgroups or a 12% reduction in the
number of students not proficient in subgroups
- Mathematics
Proficiency 51% school-wide for all subgroups or a 12% reduction in the
number of students not proficient in subgroups
Plans for financial resources to meet the goals:
The total
projected school budget is $3.5M. Most
of the funds, WSF and Categorical, will be used to provide student to teacher
ratios as low as possible, an array of comprehensive student supports, staff
development and basic operations to support the school learning environment. A small portion of the available funds is to
be used to support targeted interventions based on data analysis to address the
needs of specific students that are not meeting proficiency.
The following provide a summary of the costs for each goal
in the School Strategic Plan.
Goal # 1 – Standards-Based Learning
$20,000
will be used to provide articulation opportunity for teachers to refine HCPS curriculum
maps and assessments. In addition it will be used to provide additional support
for students who do not meet reading and math proficiency. We are concerned
that certain subgroups are not meeting proficiency expectations.
Goal # 2 – Quality Student Support
$7,000 will
be used to facilitate the provision of targeted interventions to identified
students and monitor their progress as well as support student recognition
programs which emphasize academic achievement, safety and respect for self,
others and the community. Students require a safe, positive learning environment
to support their opportunity to meet proficiency expectations and practice
responsible citizenship.
Goal # 3 – Continuous Improvement
$21,000
will be used to provide professional development in scheduled learning team
collaboration meetings as well as participation in staff development workshops.
Learning team collaboration allows
teachers to discuss best instructional practices, curriculum alignment and
pacing to ensure the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards are met, and
assessment strategies; all which directly impacts our students’ learning and
achievement.
