tradition, these awards recognize a father who demonstrates a commitment to
outstanding parenting skills as well as an exemplary program or service which succeeds

The Hawai‘i State Commission on Fatherhood, with our
partners Hawai‘i Coalition for Dads and Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii along with
our primary sponsor the Hawai‘i Children’s Trust Fund, are pleased to invite
you to the 1st Annual Statewide Hawai‘i Fatherhood Conference, “Inspiring Fathers.”
We hope you will enjoy this opportunity to learn about
the importance of father involvement in children’s lives and how the provider
community can effectively encourage father involvement through programs,
services, policies, and laws.
The Hawai‘i State Commission Fatherhood has, since late
2004, been working to develop best practices information on fatherhood
services, identify effective fatherhood services in Hawai‘i, and recognize
those who make a concerted effort to facilitate father involvement.
We look forward to sharing our progress and plans with
you, and to hearing your views of Hawai‘i can be more responsive to the needs
and concerns of fathers.
Our plenary sessions feature dynamic, engaging speakers,
and we hope you will be able to immediately apply what you learn at this event
in your own work with fathers and their families.

care for children & families, including: educators, social workers, social
worker assistants and aides, child care providers, early childhood educators,
psychologists, legislators, attorneys, guardians ad litem, health care
professionals, program administrators, counselors, law enforcement and court

counselors, workforce development personnel, parents and foster parents,
students, community members, caregivers and community volunteers.

“INSPIRING FATHERS” CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
Registration includes conference materials, certificate of completion,
continental breakfast and lunch.
Payment may be made by
check and purchase order to State of Hawaii Department of Human Services.
Purchase orders will be accepted and should
accompany the registration form. If not available at time of remittance, a
purchase order number, authorized signature, and billing address are requested.
Cancellations
for refund must be received in writing by March 30. Transfers of registration may
be done, in writing, until March 30.

Parking: Parking
(self-park, not valet) is available at the Radisson at no additional charge.
Certificate
of Completion: All participants will be awarded a certificate of completion, which
may be picked up at the close of the conference.

In celebration of fatherhood and efforts to support fathers in Hawai`i, the Hawai`i State Commission on Fatherhood will
be honoring Hawai`i’s
Outstanding Father and Father Program during the 1st Annual Statewide Hawai`i
Fatherhood Conference to be held Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Radisson
Waikiki Prince Kuhio Hotel.
Nominations are being sought of fathers as well as programs,
agencies, or organizations that have demonstrated notable achievements in
supporting fathers during the past year.
The Hawai`i State Commission on Fatherhood will choose the
outstanding father and father program from among the nominations. If you know of a father or program deserving
this recognition, please take the time to submit the nomination section below
and/or a nomination letter. Please
include:
1) A short written
description of your nominee’s special skills or efforts demonstrated.

why this recognition is deserved.
