School personnel are not authorized to administer any medication to students.  The health aide may administer medication only after proper approval and authorization from the State Department of Health.  Please contact the school health aide for instructions and forms. Students with the proper documentation from their doctor must take the medication to the health room when they arrive at school. Medication will be stored in the health room and administered by the health aide.  Please make every effort to modify the time intervals and give your child his/her medication before or after school.  Students are not allowed to bring medication (such as Tylenol, antibiotics, or cough syrup) to school and keep it with them in the classroom, except asthmatic inhalers.  Self-Administration Revised Statute §302-1164 (2004) requires the department of education to permit the self-administration of medication by a student for asthma or other potentially life-threatening illnesses. The law allows students to carry an inhaler after required documentation is filed with the school.
