WHAT’S GOING ON IN 5TH GRADE’S WORLD Mililani Uka’s Grade 5 Newsletter Volume I, Issue II March 2002
WE HAVE A WINNER! Thank you very much for all your creative suggestions! We had over 50 name suggestions for our fifth grade monthly newsletter. Our Newsletter Team had the tough job of narrowing down the choices and selecting a final winner. As you can see by the new title above, the winner was "WHAT’S GOING ON IN 5TH GRADE’S WORLD," submitted by Kellise Dela Cruz in E8. Congratulations! Kellise will receive two movie tickets to Consolidated Theatres. Thanks again for participating in our Name the Newsletter Contest! DID YOU SEE THAT NEW TEACHER IN GRADE 5? MEET MRS. CARRIE LAFORTEZA, OUR NEW SCIENCE & PE TEACHER!by Julie Besenbruch, F8 and Lucia Mocz, E7 Before Mrs. Laforteza was a teacher, she was a swim coach. She chose teaching as a career because she wanted to help kids learn and be successful. Her favorite subject is Science because it is a hands-on subject in which everyone can participate. She has taught all subjects, you know, English, Social Studies, Math, etc. We got a little tense while interviewing her. We asked her what she thought of this school. She thinks it is great. She said the students were kind and respectful. Another thing she teaches is PE. She is helping out the track team now and believes in Physical Education. A couple of times she told us that she ran a marathon and it took her a year to train. She taught us to set goals and believe in ourselves. Welcome to Mrs. Laforteza, our new Science and PE teacher. Good luck with the Science Project everyone!
