I. Call to Order
Chairperson Eric Matsumoto called
the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. A short recess was called. Meeting reconvened at 5:10 p.m.
II. Approval of Minutes

IV. Reports
A. HUI Update-Lii Furuta
Magazine drive completed
today.
Sally Foster
fundraiser will begin on Sept. 8.
Fall Fest will be
held on October 21.
Craft Fair will
be held on December 17.
Revision of the
By-Laws. The Hui is currently seeking
interested parents/community members/teachers to revise the Hui by-laws; no confirmed date has been set
as of yet.
Papa Johns pizza
night will continue on Thursday nights.
B. PCNC report-Norma Tansey
Parent Orientation
was held on July 28, 1005 with 70 percent attendance over all.
Standards-Based
Report Card. An information session
on the new report card was held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005. Additional Report Card Talk Story sessions
will be held on October 14 for parents/guardians who could not attend the
evening session.
Get Moving, Get Fit
Fitness event was held today. This
event had tremendous support from the military and was a successful community
event.
Academic and
financial plan parent information session will be held in the library
tonight.
Math Talk Story
Sessions will be held for parents of all grade levels following the Labor
Day weekend.
Safety week will
be called “Play It Safe” week.
Foodland’s Give Aloha
Program. Uka will participate in
Foodland’s Give Aloha Program during the month of September.
Office Depot is
participating in a year long rewards program.
eScript renewal
program is on-going.
Kindergarten literacy
Read Aloud Night will be held on September 7, 2005.About 150 parents have
signed up for this event. Food will be
supplied by Mililani Restaurant.
Complex parent
workshop dealing with bullying will be held at Mililani Ike on September.
15, 2005.
All
American Hero Night will be held on Sept 20, 2005.
Mililani
High School Homecoming parade on Friday, Sept. 16.
C. Student Council
Officer
trainng was held on August 26th held at Mililani Mauka Elementary.
D. Teachers
Grade
3 students will be attending a Blue Coral field trip on October 21, 2005.

Mililani Uka made AYP.
2. CSSS
Numbers of
special needs students is on the rise due to new children moving into the Uka
geographic area and Pre-school referrals.

Leadership working on the topics.

(Standards Based Report Card)
One parent information
session was held with the addition of two more being planned.

and Financial Plan
Parent meeting for input will be
held tonight. This plan is for next
school year.

- Diana Bonsignore
a. PBS Monthly Data. Report of last year shared with Diana. Hoopono badge steadily above the 90%
range. Students showing respect. Referrals exclude tardies. Numbers for a given month is low. Tardy is improving--tardies become worse just
before the quarter ends.

Parent Education
Parent
handbook--Schoolwide behavior expectations.
Home component was added.
8. Safety
Committee Concerns
Diana will continue
to bring minutes of the safety committee to the council. This committee meets 4 times a year.
V. Unfinished Business
A. Member
orientation. The school received the
booklets from the state but are waiting
for the covers.
B. Process
for SCC input to Academic & Financial Plans. Moved, and seconded to approve the following
timeline for development of the Academic and Financial Plans.

Parent/Community inputs at forum on Aug 29th.
·
Leadership Team (Focus Groups) develops plans
using inputs from Parent/Community Forum.
·
Draft copy of the Academic and Financial Plan emailed
to SCC members by October 15th for review.
·
SCC comments on draft plans adopted at Oct 17th
SCC meeting.
·
Leadership Team (Focus Groups) reviews and
incorporates SCC comments.
·
Draft copy #2 emailed to SCC members by November
12.
·
SCC approves Academic and Financial Plans at Nov
14th SCC meeting.
·
Final plans submitted to CAS by November 23,
2005.

VI. New Business
A. Plan for Input from Parents &
Community for the Academic and Financial Plan.
See Unfinished Business.
B. Student Early Release for
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Moved and seconded to
release students 25 minutes early on the day of the parent-teacher conferences. Faculty felt that extra time was needed during
the conference to cover and answer questions on the standards based report
cards. This would result in school ending at 12:30pm vice 1:00pm for that day
only. Approval from BOE would be
submitted upon adoption of the motion.
Motion carried.
